Judie Brown

Judie Brown - Founder of American Life League; a pro-life group that lobbies our politicians.

As a precursor I must state that most of the below quotes were gleaned from Judie Brown Interview :: Pro-Life Blogger Interviews :: ProLifeBlogs in which it appears that a previous posting had mysteriously gone "missing" and was re-posted. I wonder what the original contained.

"The reason we follow this course of thinking, which is of course quite logical, goes back to 1970 when my husband and I first heard that abortion was being practiced."

This one is a no-brainer! They never ever heard of abortion being practiced back in 1970? Well, I guess it is quite possible they hadn't. As it seems apparent that Judie really hasn't lived the "real" life that most of us live. I haven't been able to find any concrete biography but it seems Judie has enjoyed a nice, rounded affluent upbringing, with many college accreditations and degrees.
I can imagine that back then abortions were swept under the rug by most families and probably especially in rich folks homes where as such a thing would cause very great stigmatization among the RICH peerage.

Statistically though, the percentage of abortions were higher in 1970 than they are now (down approximately 3% from 1976).

I would dispute the fact that Judie had never heard of abortions being performed in 1970.

"Children of God for Life has made an enormous difference to parents throughout our nation, as they seek answers to tough questions regarding whether or not to obtain vaccinations for their children when the vaccines are produced using fetal body parts from aborted children. Seeking positive alternative vaccines and pressing pharmaceutical firms to stop marketing such ghoulish products is what makes Children of God for Life such an asset to all of us who struggle defend and protect our most vulnerable brothers and sisters in Christ - the pre-born."

I searched high and low yet I could not find any evidence that fetal body parts are used to incubate vaccines. I went to the WHO site, searched and found nothing. Only that they recommended that pregnant women not get the Rubella vaccine as they could not determine whether the vaccine could cause birth defects to the fetus. That was the only reference on their site search of "vaccine fetus aborted" with no result for "aborted". Sounds like she's making it up or at least perpetuating an urban myth. For what?

"We know that each abortion kills a fellow human being, and thus it would be illogical to argue that some abortions are acceptable while others are not. This is why we oppose all those suggested laws that contain exceptions for certain abortion such as rape, incest or life of the mother."

This woman finds absolutely no exception for the use of abortion in cases of incest or rape or the life of the mother. Remember, Judie and the American Life League (among many others) are powerful lobbyists in Washington.

"God is the Author of life, and it is His grace that invites each of us to become deeply committed to His babies and strive to end this scourge of abortion. Without God there would be no inspiration, and certainly no strength to persist in this effort."

So I guess a god dictates that rape and incest are far less of a crime than choosing to abort a pregnancy resulting thereof. A god justifies and supercedes any argument with a relationship between a mother and her unborn child. What of those not of an Xtian faith? Where the life and health of the mother are considered more sacrosanct?
I must note that the pro-life movement in this country is driven by Xtian ideology and not by medical and scientific evidence.

"I believe that nobody beats God; I also believe in the inherent good that resides in the heart of man. And therefore I do believe aborting children will end one day though I cannot predict how or when God will bless our nation with that victory."

Abortions have existed throughout our known history (and presumably beyond). How can one presume to end it now? With the overturn of Roe v. Wade the end of fetal abortion will not end. The end of the legalization of it will. If it is not legal (as this woman purports to hope) then aborting a fetus will carry with it a criminal offense. I assume that she (and a great many like her) believe that abortion is murder. Murder as a crime in all instances throughout many of the States carries a maximum penalty of life in prison and in some case the sentence of death. Is this what she wants? Granted, it's an extreme hypothetical (I think), but not entirely out of the question.
We would be going back to the days when people "just didn't talk about it" and turn a blind eye? Like necking at make-out point?

"Human embryonic stem cell research cannot be done without killing innocent human individuals; and thus we oppose it. We also oppose all forms of birth control because they are inherently evil in that they deny that God is the Author of life and the only One who should determine when a couple will or will not bear a child."

This is false. Embryonic stem cell research can be done without harming the fetus. As of this interview I am not sure whether such techniques were known. As far as birth-control being inherently evil? What? I must state again: This woman heads a lobby group with considerable funds aimed at influencing our politicians. Birth control, evil? Like the pill and condoms, the use of which are evil? WTF!?!

"I think that every single thing we do makes a difference, and I do not think we can measure any of those activities. What we have to do is use the creative abilites God has given each of us to do our best in this battle. BLOGS are a boon to educating others."

To Judie I would say that BLOGS are a boon to proselytization. To spread whatever agenda she and others believe as truth based upon ideological and out-dated morality.
