Seriously.
It's virtually pointless to argue the bible (or whatever religious text is in debate). Whatever you may bring up as contradictory will be "rationalized" by the believer. There are always loop-holes. So what of loop-hole? We always think of the law in this regard. Accountants find loop-holes in tax laws. Lawyers find loop-holes in criminal or civil law. Believers see their scripture as a book of law. A way to live their lives. A book of text is verily open to interpretation. I have way more respect for people that attempt to adhere to scripture as much as they possibly can than those who seek to reinterpret it to suit their needs. For shame on them. A book like the Xtian bible should be taken very literally, word for word.
It is the word of "god" no less, right? It says so in one of the last paragraphs of Revelation "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and [from] the things which are written in this book."
I challenge all people who read and believe in this book to never, EVER interpret its word any other way. I get so sick of people doing this. If one is so serious about reading the bible and believing in it then you had better follow every single word. Because according to that passage, if you don't then you are destined for eternal suffering, for hell.
Never mind about me. What about disdaining and blaspheming any single word in that holy text?
I went to a blog post where the individual claimed that the first commandment stated this: "YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND", when in reality the bible says this: "I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before Me..."
If you believe in the above Revelation statement Dan, then you are going straight to hell. I feel sorry for your anguish at this "revelation".
