Why I am an atheist

The reason I choose not to believe is because I have come to understand the inimical hardships caused in the name of religion. I had traveled down a meandering road in my life as I have never been brought up in childhood to believe in a god or gods. I was pretty much let loose upon the world to find my own spiritual identity by myself (I am thankful for that (thanks mom)).

My childhood was pretty much absent of religious indoctrination. And it is all very cherishable, all of it. My growing up to adulthood has been nothing less than a real life lesson. We can all say the same regardless of our particular upbringing. During my teen years I had delved into aspects of spirituality: Qabala, Xtianity, Buddhism and various other new age philosophies. After years of indifference and pretty much trying to just make ends meet and then finally meeting the love of my life and coming to a time where things were actually kind of stable I actually had time to think and learn about the world (getting a computer and learning stuff on the internet changed a lot too) really clinched, really made me understand what is going on in the world. I had pretty much understood the role of religion in our society as a whole. But I never quite understood how the dots connected until I became politically charged. Until I understood that world powers are influenced by religious ideology. I pretty much understood that through history, religion has played a key role in the decisions that past leaders have made. To this day it seems nothing has changed. I am and sure I have always been a secularist. And right now I am a VERY strict secularist.

I am an atheist for some very simple reasons.

1. It's easy and it makes living life easier. From what I understand believers have to worry about their deeds in this life in order to ensure their "heaven" is open to them. Without that kind of worry my life is made easier.
2. History. Look to history and you can't help but notice the atrocious deeds committed in the name of religion. I don't care what history books you read. Whatever country you live in. Whatever book you read it will tell you of the dastardly deeds committed by whatever "cult" or "false religion" of the day.
3. Choose one! Which one? Which one is right? Ahh! They all seem so enticing and believable. I thought that at one time that they were all right. But it is obvious that this can not be so...for this simple argument: According to every one of these ideologies all the others are wrong. So...I want no part of that headache.
4. I want no part of that headache.

That's all for now. Thank you for reading. Good night.
