Xtianty...the cultural lawnmower

I have noticed, after reading lyrics to many European black metal bands, a great amount of angst about pagan traditions being robbed and decimated by Xtianity is present there.

Got me thinking. Some very rich traditions have been obliterated by Xtianity. For what?

No matter that these traditions in themselves had fostered superstitious ideologies.

The simple fact that a once vibrant tradition and culture has been virtually wiped out by another. I would bet that some believers would argue that secularism seeks to do the same. I will attempt to counter this argument.

Secularism is NOT about elimination of religion. Secularism IS about elimination of religious ideology within the public sphere. Secularists have absolutely no problem or qualms with the private practice of religious belief.

Our politicians (US and anywhere else) need to get away from bringing religious dialogue into politics. Because of this; when religion intrudes into public policy, in essence and in actuality that policy is molded upon an ideology that does not represent the whole of society.

THAT IS NOT DEMOCRACY!!!

I'm not blind. I know what's going on. Constituencies organize and mobilize and "get the vote out". Seems as that vote lately has centered around so-called "morale values".
