Irony...

I was listening to Hannity today (Yeah, there was some local interference on NPR so I decided to listen to our local AM commercial talk radio).

If I remember correctly there was a WHOLE LOT OF BULLSHIT gushing everywhere. I was afraid I would have the stench on myself for a while. Damn, that sounded like him!!!

Anyway, what brought me here to write about this "illustrious" experience is the fact that (if I remember right) he was going on about 9/11 and how some fundamentalists attacked our country. No. Attacked our neighbors...the people next door. New York.

He was broadcasting from Atlanta, Georgia. By which I mean he probably lured the REDnecks out from them thar hills into "town" by promising some damn good lynching, but all they got was a lot of hot air to blow up their asses.

Now. New York city? REDneck south? Can anyone please remind me that most southerners probably don't give a rats ass for Yankees. Sure, we're all Americans...U.S. citizens...and share a national identity, but I can't even help thinking about that pre-9/11 Ole El Pasa commercial deriding salsa made in New York city.

Hang on, I know..."Where's he going with this?"

Salsa? Crap! Gets me on a whole other subject (immigration), but I'll leave that for next time.

Essentially what I have to say is this: Whatever happened on 9/11 was a rally call for national unity. Is there national unity? I don't think so. Some people like to think there is.

Me...I spit on nationalism. I fucking hate the notion. Nationalism...Fascism? It's the same fucking thing.

No matter that we are a nation united. I WANT IT DIVIDED. I don't want uniform conformity. I don't want citizens nodding their heads in agreement. I don't want people pushing such an agenda. I don't want opinions stifled by "national unity"...by fascism. I don't want people to agree with what they are fed through the mainstream media. I want people to be right here reading these words whether they disagree with them or not (and listen to public radio :) too). At least they came here and maybe found out about somebody else's views.

I don't listen to Hannity much at all, but that really got me thinking about NPR and how valuable it is. It is indispensable. You want to talk about preaching to the choir? Commercial "news" radio fucking blows.

{leaving this open for editing}

Y'all come back now y'ear.
