NOT!!! NO!! NADA! NO COMPRENDE!!!
Nothing grinds me more than people (Christians and ex-Christians) debating the relevance of the existence of a god in relation to science. It is not even relevant.
Any such debate is philosophical...P-H-I-L-O-S-O-P-H-I-C-A-L!!!
Tying such a debate to a scientific forum is at best irrelevant and at worst counter-productive.
Science = evidence. PHYSICAL evidence!!! Something you can feel and touch and hear, smell, see and otherwise relate to through the physical senses.
Science is NOT philosophical. If something exists outside of our sensory perception it CANNOT be known or explained by the scientific method. Simple? Hell yes!
The scientific method steps outside of philosophy. And I think a great many people just aren't "into" science enough to frickin' "get it". Including the moron who came up with ID.
Intelligent Design is a freakin' philosophy. NOT A SCIENCE!!!
Mathematics is a science: 2 + 2 = 4? Well, maybe not...It's possible that some unknown force deems that the science of mathematics does not apply in this equation. We don't know what the solution is, but let's say it really could add up to something else. We're not sure what it is, but hey you never know.
Screw this kind of debate about a gods existence relevant to science. It will get everybody nowhere very fast. For this simple observation: PEOPLE WILL BELIEVE WHAT THEY WANT TO BELIEVE.
As far as faith goes. It is simple enough to read, believe and rationalize a line of prose in a religious text...and it's just as easy to do the same in regards to science.
Forget about this debate. I've thought long and hard about it and it leads to nowhere. Why? Because religion is NOT about science.
It's about sociology and philosophy thereof. About how such debates blur the real issue of how religion fits into a niche of every bodies lives, whether they like it or not.
